Structured around a series of seven problem-solving workshop activities, the student is provided with a hands on, totally experiential introduction to acting, directing, script analysis, playwriting, design, and criticism.
In providing introductory skills and techniques, the primary objective of this course is to place the student in the creative process of those artists engaged in creating theatre so as to stimulate the student’s own theatrical imagination—i.e. learning by doing.
Students discover the creative, collaborative nature of theatre by working with exercises that consistently simulate the creative work of theatre. As does theatre itself, this course demands a highly interactive, team playing commitment and, because of this, attendance at all classes is expected.
